How We Will Grow
Our Commitment to Shareholder Value
Our History
How We Will Grow
As one of the world's only publicly-traded, pure-play global office products
suppliers, we see multiple opportunities for robust growth in the years ahead.
The need to organize information, present documents effectively, and
communicate visually will continue to be a driving force in the information age
in which we all live today. At the same time, other trends – from long-term
growth in white collar employment, to the growth of small, home and mobile
offices, to exploding rates of computer usage, to the increased concern of
identity theft that has prompted greater use of shredders and computer security
devices – all clearly demonstrate the potential for the products we offer.
We intend to capitalize on these favorable market trends and to
grow our company by not only meeting the needs of our customers today, but also
by anticipating and being prepared to meet their evolving needs tomorrow and in
the years ahead. Our brands have a history of being at the forefront of our
industry and that will continue to be a critical element of our success going
forward. In addition, we expect to grow by:
-
Continuing to Provide Excellent Products on a Highly Cost Competitive Basis.
We are proud to be able to offer our worldwide customer base the most innovative,
highest quality branded office products available on a highly cost competitive
basis. Our attractive business model and global operations provide us with the
ability to manufacture our products on a cost basis that is among the lowest in
the industry.
-
Maintaining a Well-Managed Supply Chain. Complementing our cost competitive
manufacturing operations is our well-managed global supply chain. Our
state-of-the-art system provides our retail customers with a consistently
reliable response to their product needs and allows them to do business with us
with minimal investment in inventories. This positions our customers to grow
their businesses in tandem with ours.
-
Remaining Focused on Innovation. As a company with industry-leading brands –
a number of which have been in existence for over a century – we have a track
record of innovation in bringing new products to market to meet emerging
consumer preferences and demands. As new economic, social and technological
trends usher in dramatic new changes across the workspaces of the twenty-first
century, we are committed to continuing to bring a spirit of innovation to all
of the products that we develop.
Our Commitment To Shareholder Value
ACCO Brands Corporation is committed to delivering long-term
value for our shareholders. The power of our brands, our unmatched global
customer reach, and our strategic and market strengths put us in a strong
position to achieve this goal.
Going forward, we are committed to solidifying our industry and
market leadership while building enhanced shareholder value through steady
growth in our sales, operating income and earnings per share.
Our History Of Innovation
ACCO Brands Corporation is a new company, but our roots stretch
back more than a century. Over the years, our businesses have consistently been guided by a spirit of innovation and a commitment to delivering superior,
cutting-edge products for our customers. This has enabled us to flourish and
grow in a continually evolving office products environment.
ACCO Brands Corporation became an independent publicly traded
company on August 17, 2005. The Company was formed through the spin-off of the ACCO
World office products unit of Fortune Brands (NYSE: FO) and its subsequent
merger with General Binding Corporation (GBC). This transaction brought
together the complementary businesses, brands and strengths of ACCO and GBC to
form the world's largest supplier of branded office products – a global office
products powerhouse. As a highly focused office products company, we are now
uniquely positioned to capitalize on the opportunities for growth in our
industry.
ACCO's businesses got their start with the founding of Wilson
Jones in 1893, the American Clip Company (ACCO) in 1903, and the Swingline
Company in 1925. These were among the first companies to revolutionize the
basic ways in which we record, store and organize information in offices,
schools and workspaces through the creation of the ring binder, the mass
production of the paper clip, and the widespread popularization of staplers.
GBC was founded in 1947 to manufacture and sell desktop binding
products, and eventually broadened its product base to include a range of
binding solutions, as well as laminating products, shredders, visual
communication products and calculators. Over the years, the company established
itself as a leader in the office products industry, offering products under the
well-known GBC, Quartet and Ibico brands as well as a range of
professional-grade print finishing solutions.
We at ACCO Brands are proud to have played a critical role in
shaping the office products industry for more than 100 years, and we look
forward to continuing our tradition of leadership for years to come.
